How to create a business item

Introduction

Business items are those items that are passed from one activity to the next in business operations. You can model as a business item anything that is created, assembled, inspected, tested, modified, or worked upon.

In WebSphere® Business Modeler, a business item can be thought of as a category, whereas a business item instance is a single occurrence of that category. For example, you can define an Invoice business item. "Invoice" is a category, and Invoice #7524 is an occurrence of that category, or an instance of that business item.

For Quickstart Finance, you need to define business items to represent applications for loans, e-mail notifications of loan refusals, and funds to be distributed upon loan approval.
