Creating a resource catalog

Introduction

Resources represent the people, equipment, or material used to perform a project or a task. Examples of resources are Computer and Employee.

A resource catalog is a container that holds resource definition templates, resource definitions, resources, roles and timetables.

Resource catalogs are displayed in the Project Tree view. A resource catalog performs the function of a folder, allowing you to group a related set of resource definitions, resources, roles, and timetables that you create to represent the resources of an organization.

Resource catalogs are used to store your resource definitions and resources. By default, each project contains a resources catalog called Resources.

Step 1

In the Project Tree, right-click Resources and select New > Resource Catalog

Note that you can also add the following to  Resources:

  1. Role
  2. Resource Definition
  3. Resource
  4. Timetable

Step 2

  1. Enter name of new resource catalog (i.e Personnel).
  2. Click Finish
  3. Create another resource catalog (i.e Computers)

Step 3

Two resource catalogs were added to Resources:

  1. Computers
  2. Personnel
